Corporal Samuel Griffin of Company D, Massachusetts 54th Volunteer Infantry

Corporal Samuel Griffin (1841 - 1920)


Enlisted from Philadelphia, PA on 19 March 1863. He was 22 years old, married and working as a brickmaker.

Wounded 18 July 1863 at Fort Wagner.

Mustered out 20 August 1865.

    More research needed; I'm questioning whether this is the right grave for Corporal Griffin after all. While the grave does say Company D, it appears also to say ME instead of MA.
