Enlisted from Cincinnati, OH on 14 April 1863. He was 24 years old, single and working as a farmer.

Wounded on 18 July 1863 at Fort Wagner.

Died of his wounds on 10 August 1863 at the General Hospital in Beaufort, SC.

His grave is at the Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina.
